I know these codes are operational because I've installed them on my Mac (which doesn't use Origin) and they're fully functional there. Most of my game codes redeemed just fine, but there are two (World Adventures and Ambitions) that I bought secondhand that were evidently already redeemed under another account. I have a computer running Windows 10 that I want to install Sims 3 on, but it uses Origin.
